The following video walks you through the process of getting started with your new, InTune enrolled, Patriot Laptop
For additional assistance or for any questions, please open a ticket or reach out to IT@patriotgis.com.
Follow the video guide above for visual instructions, see below for the written instructions.
Note: Patriot uses either Lenovo or Dell for our company provided laptops. Regardless of which laptop you received, the process will be the same.
Also, please note that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required during this process. For those that have MFA already set up, the process will look like any other time you are signing into your account using Micrsoft Authenticator.
However, if you are a new user or you do not have MFA set up on your account, your process will have a few extra steps. When signing into your Patriot account, and you get to the MFA portion, it will take you through the setup process of the MFA app for your phone. Follow the steps on the screen, then proceed with the training video. Alternatively, you may have been provided with a Temporary Access Passcode (TAP) and you will use that here.
You can follow the instructions in this article to set up MFA on your account. Then come back here to complete your new device setup.
1. Open your laptop box and get your laptop set up in your work area, make sure that it is plugged in and charging. Keep it plugged in during this entire process to ensure that it does not run out of battery power.
2. Open your laptop lid and you should see a set up screen asking which country or region you are in. The United States should already be highlighted, and you can click yes.
3. It will ask you about your keyboard and will already have US selected. You can click on yes to move to the next screen.
4. Here, it will ask if you want an additional keyboard layout. For now, you can just click on skip.
5. The next screen will ask you to connect to a network. You will either have to connect an ethernet cable to your computer or docking station OR you can select your home wifi network as the connection. Once selected, make sure the “connect automatically” box is checked and click on connect.
6. It will show you a security key field for your wifi password. Type in your password and click on connect. Once it is connected, you can click on next.
7. Here it will automatically check for updates, this can take a few minutes. Let it sit and wait until you see a Microsoft sign-in screen.
8. Once on this screen, type in the Patriot email address provided to you by the Service Desk team and click on next. It will take a moment to load the organizational sign-in page.
9. The organizational sign-in page will be through Microsoft. You should see the email address that you just typed in here in the username field. Click on next.
10. It will ask for your password. Enter that here and click on next.
11. It will ask you to authenticate using an MFA. Here you will authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator (if you have it set up) or with a Temporary Access Passcode (TAP) that has been provided to you by IT.
12. If you do not have MFA set up yet, it will prompt you to set it up here. Alternatively, you can follow these steps in this article to set up Microsoft Authenticator.
13. Once you confirm either with a code or push notification, your computer will move on to automatically setting up and configuring your device. This will take some time, and your computer will restart during this process.
14. After the restart, you should see the lock screen of your computer. Hit any key on your keyboard or click on the screen to show the login screen.
15. Type in your Patriot email address and your password, the computer will sign you in.
16. It will sign you in and then take you through a few screens for the Windows set up procedure. Let it go through this process uninterrupted.
17. After it is done setting up Windows, you will be shown a Windows Hello screen. Click on Ok and it will have you sign into Microsoft with your Patriot account again.
18. Once verified with MFA, it will ask you to set a pin. You can choose to use just numbers, or you can include letters and symbols by checking the box to include letters and symbols. Click on Ok when you are done filling in these fields.
19. It will load for a moment and then tell you that you are all set. Then it will load your desktop and your laptop is set up and ready to go. Note, if you have any pre-existing Outlook or OneDrive data, it can take some time for your Outlook and OneDrive data to sync. If you experience any issues, do not hesitate to reach out to the support team at support.patriotgis.com or by email IT@patriotgis.com.
